Romanian Designers at the Fashion Week Berlin

Romanian designers present their collections once again at the Berlin Fashion Week. Alongside a group runway show for designers Stephan Pelger, Adelina Ivan and Andra Clitan, designer Irina Scrotter will also present her new collection. In addition, the Romanian fashion scene will also be represented at the trade fairs Premium and Panorama.

The group runway show for Romanian designers takes place on Tuesday, January 15, at 9.30 pm.

Adelina Ivan, who has already participated in the Berlin Fashion Week in July 2012, will present her new collection “Trust Yourself”. Adelina remains true to her signature minimalist shapes, with their clear, sharp edges and the unmistakable architectural influences that define her lines.

This is a Berlin debut for designer Andra Clitan. A scholarship student at London’s Central St. Martins College of Art and Design, Clitan is regarded as Romania’s most talented newcomer. Her designs blend traditional cultural elements and garbs from her native country with modern couture. Her latest collection deals with the topic of burial rituals and symbolism, translated into modern creations.

Stephan Pelger is the third designer in the group. Not only is Palger already known in the German fashion scene, he was also the shooting star of the 2011 Berlin Fashion Week, and has established an international audience for himself. Now he’s back with a show that will seamlessly bridge the last two years of successful work.

Irina Schrotter will present her new collection on Friday, January 18 at 11.30 am.

Her latest collection for Fall / Winter 2013 is titled “Immersed Self” and takes its inspiration from Ingmar Bergmann’s film “Persona” – specifically the interaction between the characters of Alma and Elisabeth. The collection merges her signature designs with those of co-designer Lucian Broscatean, who has also designed pieces in for the brand’s previous summer collection.

Adding to her flagship store in Bucharest, Schrotter has recently opened her own shops in Lugano and in New York’s Prince Street.

All Romanian designers also show their collections in a joint group stand at the Premium, joined by shoe designer Mihaela Glavan and the accessories collections of Carla Szabo and Otilia Flonta.
