INTRODUCING: t w e n t y (2) t o o

NeW MuSic fOr oLd BoYs

Or the merry voyage in the land of Builder BOB.
Last season I had a surrealist experience in Berlin where I found myself in the middle of a Navajo Robotic Invasion. Not only did they share the same odd passion for plaid shirts, rolled up dark denim trousers and Navajo prints, beards, and school boy hair cuts, but they even seemed to share their first names: OLIVER.

After my initial “hipsterophilactic” shock, I started to amuse myself by imagining a country where all of its inhabitants had the same traits, the same style, and clothes and the same names.

Oddly enough and completely unexpectedly, the inspiration came from Africa, then the images I discovered on Simon Foxton’s blog offered me the context to let myself carried away on an unfriendly unknown land, with strange people with painted faces and bodies, and who wear beaded masks that blend the artisanal occupation characteristic in a Romanian region called Maramures with the ancestral traditions of African tribes.

Africa is only natural for an inspiration, because in a way, this collection marks the return to nature, to what is primordial, and at the same time a return to the initial t w e n t y (2) t o o manifesto: a melting pot of street wear mixed with tailoring elements and inspired by urban jungles and peasant lifestyle.

This time, the items of the collection are elementary basics of any wardrobe, transposed in an almost documentary fashion, as if captured on the National Geographic.

The more masculine cut clothes seem to be mended from older items of an imaginary older brother, short denim jackets are transformed into trench coats, sleeveless jackets have cardigans attached on top of them, temperate colors that hide surprisingly vibrant linings and finishes, the layering of textures that apparently do not follow any particular logic in their matching, all of these are merely pretexts for the celebration of life.

This “ joie de vivre” is reflected in the construction of the garment per se. One of the missions I desired for the t w e n t y (2) t o o adventure was to create playful, versatile clothes, that one could transform and combine in more than one way. Today I am nearer from this goal as ever, because I really felt like playing, having fun, and dance.

Since here at  t w e n t y (2) t o o  we enjoy team play, we embarked on our adventure the extremely talented Mrs. Carla Szabo to  realize  our  beaded African masks  and pretty much all of the accessories you will surely love for this crazy collection.

Dear boys, and some girls I know, I hope you like the music!

Thank you for all your support and friendship:

INTRODUCING: PATZAIKIN, SS 2013

PATZAIKIN catwalk debut at
Berlin Fashion Week July 2012

The international catwalk debut collection from PATZAIKIN - a fresh, Romanian-based lifestyle label for the active, eco-aware urban citizen takes inspiration from the untamed beauty of the Danube Delta.

The items in the masculine line blend the sporty and casual side with an edgy, urban sense of style in 16 playful and versatile looks. Trousers, overalls, jackets, coats and waistcoats, shirts, parkas, blouses and hand-made accessories (bulrush hats, leather sandals and shoes) all target the average silhouette, with austere cuts and restrained color palette. The natural fabrics (cotton, linen, hemp), meant to grow more beautiful with time and wear, feature soft shades of greys and beiges, deep denim blues and faded blacks, asserting the label’s long-term engagement with experimenting thoughtful contemporary ways to reconnect with nature.

Vestiges of former practicality brought to new aesthetic height, large size map pockets appear on blouses, trousers and jackets. The slight variations of the manually dyed intricate patterns on the denim pieces are another feature of the collection.

Capturing the dense, mysterious and quiet atmosphere of a widely unknown landscape, the current collection of PATZAIKIN label attempts to go beyond a mere aesthetic relation with a paradisiacal place. The clothes are designed to incorporate knowledge of traditional craftsmanship and various technical details and innovations meant to please both urban lifestyle and the leisure travels of the man willing to (re)discover nature.
---
PATZAIKIN is a lifestyle label – clothing, accessories and the innovative canotca (small wooden boat) -  for the active eco-aware urban citizen ready to (re)discover nature. The fascinating story of Ivan Patzaichin, one of the world’s greatest canoeing legends and the breathtaking, pristine beauty of the Danube Delta are set as perpetual inspiration backgrounds for the young label proudly based in Romania.

The label was recently commissioned by The Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee to design the clothing line for the Romanian delegation to the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Currently PATZAIKIN is also preparing the large scale project “Danube Connection” in Vienna, Bratislava and Budapest.

The head designer of the label is Olah Gyarfas, internationally acclaimed for his work as part of the cutting-edge Rozalb de Mura label (2006 - 2011).
