ROMANIAN DESIGNERS ROMANIAN DESIGNERS AT BERLIN FASHION WEEK, JULY 2012

As in previous season, Romania’s most interesting designers will be showing their current collections once again in July 2012 at the Berlin Fashion Week. Irina Schrotter, Adelina Ivan, Mihaela Glavan, Carla Szabo, Otilia Flonta as well as the labels twenty(2)too and Patzaikin will present their newest creations at the Premium fair. Streetwear label BOLD fashion will be once again at Bread&Butter.

Alongside their fair presentations, the Romanian designers will hold two runway shows at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.

IRINA SCHROTTER

Irina Schrotter is showing her current collection “Shapes of Light” on Thursday, 5 July 2012, 10 PM at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin.

For her new collection, the successful designer from Iasi has worked in close collaboration with avant-garde designer Lucian Broscatean. The result is “Shapes of Light”, an exciting collection which incorporates avant-garde elements into the traditional, high-end couture.

True to her vision, in “Shapes of Light” Schrotter mastered contemporary designs with finest Italian silk and light and flowing cotton fabrics. The collection includes staples such as dresses, skirts, blouses, trousers, blazers and coats and offers a complete wardrobe, from business outfits to gala dresses.

Classic elegance and seductive femininity best describe Schrotter’s collection. As always, her creations stand out with a mix of minimalist design elements with sharp and straight lines and soft, feminine silhouettes. White and nude tones dominate the collection, with accents in bright luminous colors and metallic surfaces.

ROMANIAN DESIGNERS

Presenting under the name “Romanian Designers” on Saturday, 7 July 2012, at 11.30 AM designer Adelina Ivan and both labels Patzaikin and  twenty(2)too will show their collections for Spring / Summer 2013 at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin. Designer Mihai Dan Zarug was joined by two new talents to create twenty(2)too current collection, which is sure to be a highlight at this season’s fashion week.

twenty(2)too presented their collection in January 2012 for the first time on the runway in Berlin. The current collection S/S 2013, entitled “NeW MuSic fOr oLd BoYs“ is more masculine and mature than their previous ones. Mihai Dan Zarug’s designs offer a range of men’s wear staples from trousers to shirts, T-shirts, jackets, coats and cardigans. The wearable items can be mixed in various combinations to offer a versatile wardrobe.

Zarug transformed the classic jean-jacket to a trench coat, and sleeveless jackets include cardigan applications. The starting point of the collection is basics, while each of them was transformed and added onto, as if Zarug looted his brother’s closet, scissors in hand, to re-interpret every single item.
Materials this season include silk, raw Japanese denim, wool and super fine Italian poplin, in combinations that seem to challenge rules of logic.

Olympic canoe champion Ivan Patzaikin founded his eponymous label in 2011. Head designer is Olah Gyarfas, who has collected accolades at the London fashion week before. Internationally targeted design, creativity and know-how meet traditional values of the Danube Delta, a widely unknown region of Romania.

Inspired by the raw and beautiful nature of the Danube Delta’s eco-biosphere, the designs are based on regional materials like flax, organic cottons and denims with natural tones like sand, gray white and brown. The men’s wear collection includes trousers, shirts, jackets and coats complemented by hand made hats and leather sandals and shoes.

Adelina Ivan’s collection for Spring / Summer 2012 is centered on geometric shapes. The minimal contours and lines are based on straight forms, dots, rhombuses and triangles, making for very androgynous looks and silhouettes.

Draping and layering of the main silk, chiffon and light cotton elements soften the rigorous straightness of the lines, and give it a certain delicacy and femininity. The designer enhances the basic designs with hand-painted patterns, applications and prints shaped like circles and arrows.

Alina Ivan’s collection includes all women’s ready to wear basics like dresses, long skirts, blouses, trousers, blazers and coats. The color palette consists of black, white and grays with light blue accents.

Accessories for both collections are by designer Carla Szabo, and shoes are by Mihaela Glavan.

Romanian Designers are showing their collections at the Berlin fashion week for the fourth time this season, with names ranging from established brands to creative new comers. Romanian Designers’ shows in Berlin are held in collaboration with the Department of Commerce, Trade and Industry of the Republic of Romania and with kind the support of the Romanian Embassy in Berlin.
